Why pastesite.com?

About · updated October 2026 · 5 min read

pastesite.com started with a simple frustration: sharing a block of text should not require an account, a subscription, a pop-up, or a page that weighs more than the text itself. A pastebin is a utility. It should feel like one.

What we optimized for

Speed

A small page, a text area, and a link. No dashboard detour before your first paste.

No account wall

Create and read anonymously. Sign up only if you want folders, editing, profiles, and API keys.

No ads

The paste is the page. Nothing autoplays, nothing covers the text, nothing follows you around.

Real privacy controls

Unlisted links, expiry, passwords, and burn-after-read are built in, not upsells.

Terminal-friendly

Raw text at /raw/<id> and API keys for creating pastes with curl.

Honest comparisons

We explain when another tool is the better choice. A pastebin is not a document editor or a git host.

Features, without the upsell

What we deliberately do not do

We do not run a public full-text search index over everyone's pastes. We do not require an account to read or write. We do not pretend a paste is a private vault: password protection controls access, but the content is not end-to-end encrypted. Do not paste secrets you would not want leaked.

Frequently asked questions

Is pastesite.com really free?

Yes. Creating and reading pastes is free, with no ads. A free account adds a dashboard, folders, edit history, a public profile, and API keys.

Do I need an account?

No. Anonymous pastes work without signing up. Accounts are optional.

Are my pastes private?

Unlisted pastes are only reachable by link and do not appear in public feeds. Password protection adds another layer, and expiry or burn-after-read limits how long the content exists. The content is not end-to-end encrypted, so do not paste secrets.

Can I use it from a terminal?

Yes. Create an API key in the dashboard, then POST to /api/pastes with curl. GET /raw/<id> returns plain text for piping. See the API guide for examples.
